The Woodburner

Olvera gets hot.  In the summer, it gets very hot.  But in the winter, Olvera can get very cold.  Especially at night when the swing in temperature will take you from sitting outside a bar in a shirt during the day to shivering in your bed at night. The altitude and lack of cloud cover means that the moment the sun sets drops the mercury from, maybe 18 degrees to 4 very quickly.

When we bought the place there was a gas heater in the lounge and one electric heater upstairs.  Both work fine but they don’t exactly have character so wood burner was duly ordered.  Again, this was all managed while we were away.

This transforms the lounge into a very warm and cosy place to be.  4 logs from the bag will last an evening.

The beauty of this is that the flue runs up through the main bedroom and out the roof.  This means that the woodburner heats downstairs and the main bedroom easily.

We also managed to find some of the tiles that were used on the edges of the little patio by the basement to add a bit of life to the firebricks behind the woodburner.
